Snail Extract Cream, Does it work or is it a scam?

This cream has been popular some years ago and these days continues being one of the most searched products. I am talking about the snail slime, the product that has been sold over and over again on TV shops and promotions ensuring it regenerates people skin, the same way as a snail regenerates its own shell.

Many creams have born with snail extract as main component, but it is inevitable questions arise. What does they consist in? What are the real results? Do they really work?.

All began with the publication of some investigations which demonstrated that the snail had the property of healing their own tissues through the secretion of a viscous liquid. But attention, opposite to what a lot of people think I am not talking about the slime that the snail leaves as trail when it moves. This slime has no cosmetic properties and is simply used by snails to make easier their movement. So beauty products based on this extract snail can be ruled out as a actually working treatment.

To get effective results on our body and succeed, a treatment based on snail extract must have the following requirements:

- Not every snail worth. The snail should be cryptomphalus aspersa. When it needs to regenerate itself it secretes a substance rich in proteins, polysaccharides, hyaluronic acid and antioxidants.

- Its secretion must be extracted with a careful process to obtain it in a pure state, with biological activity and, of course, without ending the life of the poor snail.

Many brands do not meet either of these requirements, therefore the lack of some components and low biological activity of these due to bad extraction, forces many brands to enrich the product with external molecules, not present in the snail, to get some improvement in our body, so in many cases the snail is only an advertising ingredient.
